The British School of Beijing
Welcome to The British School of Beijing
About BSB
The British School of Beijing is non-profit, independent organisation established to provide British education to the expatriate community of Beijing.
The school was established in 2003 at a time when no other school in Beijing was offering the English National Curriculum and its principal aim continues to be the provision of educational excellence based on the National Curriculum.
The school is governed by an Executive Board of Directors and run on a day to day basis by the headmaster.
The British School of Beijing is a member of King's Group, an independent group of schools in Europe and Asia established in 1969. BSB is therefore able to draw from a wealth of experience in providing high value British education in an overseas environment.
The school is also an affiliate member of COBISEC (Council of British Independent Schools in the European Community), the British Schools Development Board (BSDB) and a founder member of EAABIS (East Asian Association of British International Schools), organisations aimed at ensuring high standards of education among its members.
School Philosophy
The British School of Beijing is dedicated to providing an education of the highest quality for our students. Children are encouraged to do their best at whatever they attempt, and to achieve their full potential in all areas. The staff set the very highest standards, not only academically, but also in terms of behaviour and social skills.
The pastoral care provides support and understanding as children progress through the school and meet new challenges. Values such as compassion, respect and friendliness are an integral part of the school's ethos. Clear boundaries and simple rules help make The British School of Beijing a happy and safe place to learn. We expect our children to work hard, but also to enjoy themselves.?
A major strength of the school is its rich cultural mix, with students from many different countries. Children learn to make friends and mix with people from a range of countries and cultural backgrounds.
Academic Staff
It is British School of Beijing policy to employ teachers with outstanding professional credentials from the UK with relevant experience delivering the British National Curriculum. On occasion, the school will also employ outstanding teachers with other internationally recognised qualifications and British curriculum experience.
The school has 3 main departments
The British School of Beijing follows the English National Curriculum as developed by the British Government. It is a standardised programme and is delivered here in Beijing in the same way as any British School worldwide.
All children are taught in mixed ability classes, with children of the same age. Children may be taught English, Maths or other core subjects in smaller groups if we consider support is necessary.
The school has 3 main departments:
- Early Years: Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception (ages 2 - 5)
- Primary: Years 1 - 6 (ages 5 - 10)
- Secondary: Years 7 - 11 (ages 11-16)
