Welcome to Newton Kindergarten
Newton is a multinational institution, that caters to the needs of both Chinese and international children and is located in the thriving SIP area of Suzhou, China. By presenting a highly individualized international and bilingual program we aim to give the best possibilities for your children here in Suzhou. From the moment they arrive in the morning and until the time they leave they will be surrounded by caring and experienced teachers, that’s ready to nurture and support the children’s gradual steps of learning.
Children are likely to forget what they are told but remember and value what they discover through their own involvement and efforts better. Explore, Play, Learn & Grow. Our motto is our goal and we strive for the children to approach learning, through exploration and play and thereby develop their own individuality.
Homework Policy:
For Year 1, homework is given on an informal basis, mainly in the form of daily reading. By Year 2, homework includes spelling and research connected with students' work. Parents are encouraged to share and discuss the reading materials with their children and to use the homework diary to keep in close communication with the child's teacher so that they can work as a team. In Year 3, the reading and spelling homework, experienced during the previous year, is supplemented with written work, which will increase as the child progresses into Year 4.
For Year 5 and 6, the level of homework increases to 3 half hourly sessions per week, plus spelling and nightly reading. With careful planning, homework can encourage skills and attitudes which will stand the students in good stead as they move through their academic life.
Assemblies:
Provide opportunities for the children to build a sense of community and to experience the excitement of performing for both classmates and parents alike. They consist of a variety of musical and 'dramatic' performances, including stories with moral themes and a celebration of birthdays and children achievements. Maintain and raise expectations and standards in pupils' learning and attainment.
Employ effective assessment strategies and forms of evidence to ensure the highest possible standards. Use an agreed set of assessment criteria to ensure high standards, continuity and progression. Monitor, evaluate and analyse the results of assessments in order to set targets for the future and to highlight achievement progress.
